We're delighted to share the inspiring journey of our company, ITSA GOAL, and how we've revolutionized children's football.
Before our innovation, "jumpers for goalposts" was the norm, leading to countless squabbles. In 1959, a young footballer crafted the first 12'x6' Mini Soccer Goal from wood and netting, unknowingly setting the stage for a global transformation in youth football. This same visionary introduced the first portable 12'x6' plastic goals in carrying bags in 1986. These lightweight, strong, and easily assembled PVC goals were a game-changer.
The English Football Association quickly embraced our goals, integrating them into small-sided games that significantly increased ball touches for every player and encouraged girls to participate from a young age, leading to a surge in women's football. Our innovation gained international recognition when FIFA approved our children's goalposts, further solidifying our impact.
Our original idea sparked a new manufacturing industry focused on producing affordable and safer children's goalposts. While many have imitated our concept, none have surpassed the quality of our original designs. Our brand name, "ITSA GOAL," pays homage to the legendary football commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme's iconic phrase after the first televised BBC "Match of the Day" goal in 1964. Established in 1986 alongside the creation of "Mini Soccer," our company invented the first plastic goal in a bag. Despite numerous attempts to replicate our design, none have matched the speed of installation, strength, quality, and longevity of our football goals.
Even global brands like Coca-Cola recognized our impact. They selected our original plastic goals for "The Big Red Bag" promotion, a collaboration with the Football Association aimed at developing grassroots football in schools. This initiative provided a complete football pitch in a bag, including goals, smaller footballs, corner flags, pitch markers, and colored bibs, significantly increasing participation in children's football.
Based in Sheffield, "The Home of Football," ITSA GOAL is renowned for innovative football goal designs. As a founding member of the CEN European goal post safety committee, we've consistently led the way in establishing industry safety standards.
We had at one time more registered goal post designs and patents than any other company in our field. Our commitment to safety and performance is central to our design process. All our football goals undergo rigorous UKAS testing, are impeccably manufactured, and boast an unmatched safety record. We never compromise on safety.
As the oldest plastic goal post manufacturer in the UK, we're proud to have pioneered the small-sided game for children. Over the past thirty-nine years, we've built a strong reputation for producing high-quality, well-engineered, and safe goalposts, all backed by extensive warranties.
We're fortunate that our company chairman, though retired, remains the only active member from the original goal post standards committee. His vast knowledge in this area continues to be an invaluable asset.
